Signarama Continues Support and Employment of Veterans

Signarama
While Veteran's Day is celebrated nationally in November, Signarama recognizes and celebrates Veteran's every day. Over the years its mission has been two-fold - hire a talented team with the skills needed to shape the brand's future for years to come, and to provide ongoing support and consultation to assist franchisees.
Known as a leader in the signage industry with more than 800 locations in 60 countries, including Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, Signarama places a high value on adding veterans of the military to its team. Kenneth Boyd, who served in the U.S. Air Force, is the latest example of a success story. Boyd was a Structural Specialist in the military, a position that required interpreting drawings and schematics for structures that ranged from emergency shelters and living spaces to locker rooms. Prior to entering the service, Boyd obtained experience in management, sales, and customer service, so when it was time to hit the job market, he sought the service of professionals at the Brunswick Career Center in Brunswick, GA. After a pre-screening by a Wagner-Peysar representative, the veteran was referred to Walter Bailey, a member of the center's DVOP (Disabled Veterans Outreach Program) team. They talked about Boyd's skills, needs, and interests, but also about interviewing strategies and ways to strengthen the impact of his resume. Steve Livingston, the center's LVER (Local Veteran Employment Representative) charged with finding him a position, sat down with Boyd. As a former recruiter for the U.S. Air Force, he immediately picked up on the veteran's experience as a structural specialist and knew his candidate would bring a lot to the table in a variety of areas. "I thought he would be very marketable because of his past experience in management, sales, and customer service as well as the knowledge he gained while in the Air Force," said Livingston. "We sat down and fine-tuned the types of positions that would be a good fit, and I was aware of an opening at Signarama, so they were at the top of my list. "The opening at the local Signarama, owned by Kim and Bobbie Snope, was for an assistant production manager, and Livingston encouraged Boyd to apply for the job. After his application was sent over, the LVER placed a call to the owners to talk to them about Boyd's unique qualifications. They called Boyd in for an interview the next day and he was hired on the spot. Since the hiring, the former veteran has received nothing short of great reviews and even received increases in pay. It's a true success story - the perfect candidate - placed with the perfect company."We greatly admire Kenneth Boyd and other Signarama veterans for all that they've done, not only during their time of service with the military, but for their commitment to our organization," said A.J. Titus, Signarama brand president.
The hiring of veterans at Signarama is a reflection of its commitment to the men and women that have served our country.
