Wahlburgers is open for business in Taylor

The burger joint trend continues to spread in metro Detroit, with a celebrity-connected chain soon to open in Taylor. The actor Mark Wahlberg on Sunday visited the site for the next Wahlburgers location for a private reception. The restaurant is opening at 11 a.m. today. He and brothers Donnie and chef Paul, founded the Boston-based Wahlburgers chain, which adds Taylor to its growing list of Michigan restaurants."The location turned out to be a great opportunity for us," Mark Wahlberg said of Taylor. "It represents what we are and who we stand for as families. We are excited to be here."

So it's a perfect fit."Nino Cutraro was also on hand and is the Wahlburgers Midwest franchise owner. A Royal Oak location is also planned for the new shopping center at 13 Mile and Woodward sometime in 2019. There are also plans for Wahlburgers to bring food trucks to some Meijer stores. The food trucks feature a selection of the most popular Wahlburgers' menu items, including Mark Wahlburg's favorite, the year-round Thanksgiving Day Sandwich - a 1/4 -pound turkey burger with stuffing, mayonnaise, orange-cranberry sauce and roasted butternut squash. Along with classic house and specialty burgers, the menu includes the Impossible burger - a vegan option - as well as salads and sandwiches, sides of Yukon Gold French fries, thin crispy onion rings, tater tots and sweet potato tots. 
There's also full bar service. The Taylor Wahlburgers is located at 21200 Penn Street. "It reminds me of home, good hard-working people," Wahlberg said of the city.
