Keller Williams Real Estate Franchise Makes Top Grade

(Friday, January 22, 2010) - Keller Williams Realty, with offices in Rhode Island, was recently ranked the No. 1 real estate franchise on the 31st annual Franchise 500 list by Entrepreneur magazine.

The magazine put the Austin-based franchise at No. 60 on its overall list, but ahead of other real estate franchises. Kansas City-based United Country Real Estate was the next real estate franchise, ranked at No. 78.

Keller Williams Realty started in 1983 and began franchising operations four years later. Today, it includes 675 franchises in the United States, including four in Rhode Island, tincluding Middletown and Bristol. There are also 13 franchises in Canada.

During the same week as the Entrepreneur award, the Swanepoel TRENDS Report said Keller Williams Realty was voted the most recognizable brand of real estate franchises.

"The Swanepoel TRENDS Report is a respected source for the real estate industry and beyond, as is Entrepreneur magazine, and we are excited to see our agents honored in this way for all their hard work," said Mark Willis, CEO of Keller Williams, in a statement. "We certainly wouldn't have been included on either list without the dedication of our agents."

Entrepreneur magazine said it crafted its list based on the financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the franchise system. The magazine said it also considered the number of years a company has been in business and the length of time it's been franchising, startup costs, litigation, percentage of terminations, and whether the company provides financing.

The Swanepoel TRENDS Report included a survey based on the votes of more than 11,000 real estate agents. It is published by real estate speaker Stefan Swanepoel.
