Choice Hotels Breaks Ground On Its 1st Canada Extended-stay Hotel

MainStay Suites Hotel Near Edmonton, Alberta Marks Milestone of Worldwide Franchisor's First Canadian Extended Stay Property

(Thursday, September 24, 2009) - Choice Hotels International Inc. broke ground Tuesday on the company's first-ever extended stay hotel property for Canada in Sherwood Park, Alberta, just minutes from downtown Edmonton. The future MainStay Suites hotel, franchised by Choice, is owned and operated by the Remai Group of Sasakatoon, Saskatchewan. Construction on the 120-room extended stay hotel is expected to be finished in July 2010.

Both the MainStay Suites and Suburban Extended Stay Hotel brand prototypes are suitably designed for both United States and cross-border markets," said Kevin Lewis, president of upscale and extended stay brands for Choice Hotels. The hotel will offer on-site laundry facilities, business center, exercise facilities, free high-speed Internet access, and free grab and go breakfast. Guestrooms will each feature a fully-equipped kitchen, large work area, bright task lighting, sleeper sofa, iron and ironing board. Guests will particularly enjoy the spaciousness of the deluxe queen guestrooms and one-bedroom suites.

The future MainStay Suites hotel, franchised by Choice Hotels International, will be located at 201 Palisades Way in Sherwood Park, Alberta at the northwest corner of Sherwood Drive and Lakeland Drive, just minutes from downtown Edmonton.
