Hungry Howie's Franchise Plans Up To 10 Stores

(Friday, September 18, 2009) - Ray Williams had spent more than two decades with Domino's pizza, a journey that had taken him from college student to store owner in a year. But some 40 stores later, Williams had tired of the road and wanted to spend more time with his family in Baton Rouge.

He sold the last of his stores in 2006.

But about six months ago, Florida-based Hungry Howie's Pizza made Williams an offer he couldn't refuse.

"They guaranteed me Baton Rouge," Williams said. "They said, ‘Ray, get your first couple of stores open. We won't aggressively pursue selling a lot of franchises (in Louisiana) right now, and let's see how it goes.'"

William's first Hungry Howie's recently opened at the corner of La. 44 and Airline Highway in Gonzales and he has already leased property for his second store, at 5201 Nicholson Drive close to Brewbacher's.

His plans are to open seven to 10 delivery-only locations in the area over the next two to three years.
