Midas Co-brands Stores, Enlarges Service Offerings

(Wednesday, August 26, 2009) - Eleven Midas-owned auto service shops in San Diego received about $1 million in renovations and hired nearly 50 workers as Midas added SpeeDee Oil Change to its offerings, the company said Aug. 26.

The renovations at the stores included installing platform lifts in the oil change bays that allow two employees to work on vehicles at the same time.

Renovations also included new interior and exterior signs.

With the service additions, customers can drive in without an appointment and get an oil change in about 20 minutes, the firm said.

In April 2008, Midas, based in Itasca, Ill., acquired the franchisor of New Orleans-based SpeeDee System, which has 116 quick-lube and maintenance outlets in the United States and 57 in Mexico.
