Showhomes Franchise Corporation Reports Record Year Despite Down Economy

Home Staging Company Posts 88% Increase

(Wednesday, May 27, 2009) - With the economic downturn and the real estate market at record lows, few companies have posted positive numbers. Despite horrible market conditions, Showhomes, America's largest home staging company, reported a record year and an 88% increase in revenue for 2008. The company is on track to produce similar or better results for 2009.

With 1 out of 9 homes in the country vacant and as many as 40% of higher-end homes for sale vacant, Showhomes is poised to have explosive growth over the next five years. Showhomes"™ innovative and highly successful home staging model of using people as props to help sell vacant homes continues to be in high demand. The company's 23-year track record of helping sell well over 25,000 homes valued at over $8 billion gives it credibility and brand awareness that few other companies possess. The Nashville-based company has seen a sharp increase in the number of homes it is staging with live-in Home Managers and expects to stage homes this year valued at over $1 billion.

"We are the right company, with the right service at the right time," says Showhomes CEO Bert Lyles. "We"™ve worked hard to position ourselves to help many in these harsh economic times and our sales results are proof of our company's sound fundamentals."

The company doubled the size of its franchise system in 2008. Showhomes began the year with 23 units open and ended the year with 48 units. Franchise expansion is continuing at a rapid clip for 2009 and the company expects to open an additional 30 units by the end of 2009.

"With the down economy, more and more people are looking at franchised businesses as a career path," says Matt Kelton, Showhomes Chief Operating Officer. "Of the new franchise owners entering our system, 80% have been due to job and career changes stemming from the down economy. We expect as people focus on the housing market to see this trend continue."

Showhomes continues to garner media attention because of the down housing market. For many homeowners, Showhomes provides the key service that makes the home sell. "There are qualified buyers in the market today," says Kelton. "There are just far too many homes for sale at the same time and until these homes sell, the market will remain depressed. Fortunately, our franchise offering is one of the few good stories in today's market and we expect this to continue."
