Papa John's Drops $25,000 Franchise Fee
(Thursday, April 30, 2009) -
Looking to boost its number of franchised pizza restaurants, Papa John's International Inc. Tuesday rolled out an incentive-laden franchise development program.
Under the plan, which Louisville-based Papa John's (Nasdaq: PZZA) calls its 25th Anniversary Development Incentive Program, the company will waive the standard $25,000 franchise fee for new franchisees. It also will collect no royalties for 12 months and give owners a $10,000 early opening award.
The program is open to approved franchisees who sign a development agreement before Dec. 27.
"We see the current economy as an opportunity for growth," new Papa John's president and chief operating officer Jude Thompson said in a news release. "We know we have a franchise model that works, and we are excited to launch this new incentive program to potential business owners who would like to join the Papa John's family."
Founded in 1984, Papa John's now has 3,400 restaurants with 80,000 employees worldwide.
