Papa John's Opens First Malaysia Outlet

(Tuesday, January 13, 2009) - PIZZA lovers can now indulge in the Papa John's experience, following the opening of the world renowned pizza company's first outlet in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Papa John's, which is built on its commitment to its tagline Better Ingredients, Better Pizza, was brought to Malaysia through a collaboration between Berjaya Pizza Company Sdn Bhd and Papa John's Pizza International Inc – the third largest pizza company in the world which has over 3, 362 outlets in 30 countries.

"We are very excited to bring to food-loving Malaysians the Papa John's pizza experience," said Papa John's Malaysia executive director Datuk Francis Lee at the official opening of the outlet on the ground floor of Berjaya Times Square last week.

Present to witness the launch of the flagship outlet were US ambassador to Malaysia James Keith, Papa John's International vice-president (operations) Myles Felt and Datuk Robin Tan, chairman of Berjaya Pizza Company Sdn Bhd which has been granted the rights to develop and operate Papa John's pizza restaurants in Malaysia.

At a media briefing after the launch, Felt said he was satisfied with the response that the restaurant has garnered since its soft opening on Dec 22 last year.

"It is without a doubt that Malaysians have welcomed Papa John's Pizza with open arms and we appreciate your support and hope to continue to deliver a great dining experience for you," he said.

Felt said Papa John's Pizza International Inc was confident the brand will make its mark in Malaysia as Berjaya has an outstanding track record of successful franchise businesses and an excellent management culture.

The Berjaya Pizza Company plans to open more Papa John's Pizza restaurants in the Klang Valley within the next two years, with a long-term plan to open 100 outlets throughout East and West Malaysia in the next 10 years.

The Papa John's outlet at Berjaya Times Square has a capacity for 76 diners at any one time and is open from 10am to 10pm daily. Its delivery and catering services are scheduled to be implemented sometime next month.
