7-eleven Pushes Franchise Opportunities
(Monday, November 17, 2008) -
Convenience store giant 7-Eleven is continuing its push to convert most company-owned and operated stores into franchise operations.
In the Baltimore area, 15 stores remain available to interested franchisees, 7-Eleven officials said Monday. That's 16 percent of the 7-Elevens in the Greater Baltimore region.
Of the company's 380 stores in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., region, 305 stores are already franchised. In D.C., 75 stores are available for franchise ownership.
The initial investment in a 7-Eleven franchise costs between $175,000 to $250,000.
Dallas-based 7-Eleven (NYSE: SE) said it hopes to complete its conversion plan by 2012. The offer to run a franchise is open to the public.
The convenience store chain initiated its conversion plan two years ago. It has since converted 4,100 stores, or 75 percent of its 5,600 stores, to franchises.
7-Eleven store managers were given the first opportunity to franchise their stores; the chain has since taken the concept public.
