Us Burger Franchise Heads Down Under

(Monday, November 17, 2008) - Trendy American burger chain, The Counter, is opening its first franchise in Sydney in the heart of Crows Nest in December 2008. This is the second international franchise since the hip burger bar first opened on home soil in California in 2003. Five years on and it boasts 15 outlets in the States and another overseas franchise in Ireland.

The innovative eatery allows customers to create their own ‘bespoke' burger, choosing the type of meat, cheese, toppings, dressing and bun they desire from an extensive list. Although there are six signature burger options, 80 per cent of customers choose to build their own.

"We're giving the power back to the customer," Jeff Weinstein, founder of The Counter, has claimed. "We're putting the choice in their hands. Ultimately, they're responsible for what goes on their burger. They own that burger. It has their name on it."
