Mcdonald's: One Franchisee, 38 Restaurants

(Sunday, September 07, 2008) - 55-year-old franchisee, Michel Heinritzi, has the greatest number of McDonald's restaurants in Central Europe. He opened up his first McDonald's restaurant 25 years ago and now, according to a report on the Internet portal cafeFuture.net, Heinritzi has taken on a further six new locations in Salzburg.

This means that Michel Heinritzi currently operates a total of 26 McDonald's restaurants in Germany and 12 in Austria. In May 2008, he was presented with the Golden Arches Award in Orlando, USA, in recognition of his achievement. This is the highest accolade that McDonald's awards to a franchisee.

The McDonald's Corporation is the world's largest operator of fast-food restaurants with Europe being the network's second-biggest market. Around 270 franchisees in Germany operate approx. 73 percent of the McDonald's restaurants in the country. According to McDonald's, each franchisee owns on average more than 3.5 restaurants.
