Einstein Noah Signs Texas Franchise Agreement
(Wednesday, May 28, 2008) -
Einstein Noah Restaurant Group Inc. has signed a franchise agreement with Twins S & Z Inc. for the development of Einstein Bros. Bagels restaurants in Texas.
Twins S & Z of Texas plans to open five Einstein Bros. locations in North Texas' Collin and Grayson counties, near Dallas, in the next five years, according to a Wednesday announcement.
Einstein Bros. Bagel franchises cost $426,400 to $757,750, according to the International Franchise Association.
Based in Lakewood, publicly traded Einstein Noah (NASDAQ: BAGL) operates fast-casual restaurant chains such as Einstein Bros. Bagels, Noah's New York Bagels and Chesapeake Bagel Bakery. It also owns New World Coffee stores.
For 2007, Einstein Noah reported total revenue of $403 million, up from $390 million in 2006. The company had net income of $12.6 million last year, after sustaining a loss of $6.9 million in '06. The restaurant operator attributed its improved performance to improving restaurant service, locking in 2008 wheat costs, eliminating costs and coming up with broader menus.
Einstein Noah oversees 600 company-owned, franchised and licensed locations in 36 states and Washington, D.C.
The company formerly was called New World Restaurant Group Inc. and was based in Golden.
