New 24-hour Fitness Franchise Coming To Power Plant
HAMPTON (Friday, April 18, 2008) -
A 24-hour fitness franchise has signed a lease for space in Hampton's Power Plant shopping center, in the part of the development that houses CiCi's Pizza and Subway.
Anytime Fitness, based in Hastings, Minn., said it plans to develop a 2,500 square-foot exercise facility, with construction set to begin immediately. The club is expected to open within 90 days.
"We believe our 24-hour fitness club will be a great addition to the Coliseum Central business district," said LaDonna Williams, club owner.
Members of Anytime Fitness use a security access card to enter the facility at any time to use the strength-training and cardiovascular equipment, even when there's no staff around. Privileges can be used at any of 1,000 clubs in the franchise nationwide.
The company began franchising in 2002, and projects that by the end of this year, it will have sold at least 2,000 franchises in the United States and abroad. There are several other locations in Hampton Roads, with three more coming soon in Newport News, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, according to the company's Web site.
Discounted memberships and access cards will be offered for charter members starting Monday, Williams said. After a special introductory period, prices will run $39.95 per month for an individual membership. Family members can be added for $19 each per month, and each member has to buy pay $59 for the entrance card. For more information, visit www.anytimefitness.com or call 757-896-1010. Customers can inquire at Original Mattress Factory, next door to the site where the new club will be located.
