The Orange County Technology Recycling Project Coalition Holds "Win-win" E-waste Disposal Events
(Thursday, March 20, 2008) -
If your computer is collecting dust and your iPod no longer plays tunes, make your way to an electronic waste (e-waste) recycling event in the month of January. The Orange County Technology Recycling Project Coalition is responding to the community's need for the proper recycling of consumer electronic devices and is working with four local organizations to host a series of FREE e-waste events.
The coalition has arranged for consumers to be able to safely dispose their obsolete electronic components at the following sites:
1. City of Garden Grove H. Louis Lake Senior Center Parking Lot (11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove) -- Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 2. Saint Columban Catholic Church Parking Lot (10801 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove) -- Sunday, January 13, 2008, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 3. Pacifica High School Senior Parking Lot (6851 Lampson Avenue, Garden Grove) -- Saturday, January 19, 2008, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 4. Santa Clara de Asis Catholic Church (22005 Avenida de la Paz, Yorba Linda) -- Sunday, January 20, 2008, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Orange County Technology Recycling Project Coalition is partnering with ease e-waste, a California EPA certified company specializing in the collection and recycling of electronic waste. This joint effort increases awareness about the importance of recycling and provides an easy and cost-free way for consumers to properly dispose of their electronics. Additionally, proceeds from the recycling of the electronic devices will go to the four local organizations that are hosting an event.
Most consumers recognize that the effects of hazardous materials in electronics can best be combated by recycling. The act of recycling prevents the potential contamination of water resources and helps preserve the earth's environment. The public's desire to participate in the responsible disposal of their consumer electronics has been answered with these e-waste collection events.
