Franchise Buys Both Bakersfield Arby's

BAKERSFIELD CA (Thursday, March 06, 2008) - Both Bakersfield Arby's restaurants have changed hands and are now owned by the franchise, the Georgia-based company announced Wednesday.

Arby's Restaurant Group Inc., a subsidiary of publicly traded Triarc Cos. Inc., purchased them from Cambridge Investments LLC as part of a deal encompassing 41 locations from San Diego to Fresno. Arby's now owns about a third of the 3,700 restaurants bearing that name nationwide, with the rest owned by franchisees.

A company spokeswoman said fewer than 40 employees were affected in Bakersfield, and that all were allowed to keep their jobs. No further information was available Wednesday about what the change means to workers.
