Baseball Helped Attract Bath Franchise To Wichita

WICHITA (Sunday, March 02, 2008) - At Re-Bath of Wichita, the bottom line is all about the liner. Re-Bath has specialized in quick, affordable bathroom remodels since 1979. Now, general manager and franchisee Jeff Hannah has brought the company's patented system and products to Wichita.

Using the Durabath Solid Surface Polymer, Re-Bath covers existing tubs, showers, walls and floors with a non-porous liner.

"Basically the product is guaranteed never to chip, rust, peel or discolor," Hannah said.

And because most of their remodels incorporate existing tubs and showers, Hannah said the typical job takes only a couple of days.

Although it uses existing fixtures whenever possible, Hannah said Re-Bath can also install new ones, such as bath-to-shower conversions.

"It takes the stress and the worry of getting your bathroom remodeled, it takes all of that out of the equation," Hannah said.

Originally from California, Hannah said his previous exposure to Wichita had come as a fan of Wichita State University's baseball team.

He played college baseball in the mid-1980s at Cal Poly Pomona and fondly recalled watching the Shockers win the 1989 College World Series.

"I've always liked the Shockers baseball team just cause they've always been so good," he said.

In 1995, after college, Hannah moved to the Midwest. Eventually, he found himself working in Springfield, Mo., as a salesman for Re-Bath.

It was there he began to combine his love of the product he was selling with a desire to strike out on his own.

"Always in the back of my mind, I'd dreamed of owning my own business," he said.

After investigating the company's franchise opportunities, Hannah decided to go for it. And he thought Wichita would be the perfect place.

"We just saw a great need for it in the area," he said.

Hannah moved to Wichita in October. He opened Re-Bath of Wichita on South West Street in November, becoming one of the company's 200 franchises nationwide. Re-Bath has its corporate headquarters in Tempe, Ariz.

Hannah said he is excited for his family -- his wife, Barbara, and daughters, 7-year-old Morgan and 4-year-old Emma -- to put down roots in Wichita.

"This is where I call home now, and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else," he said.

As for Re-Bath of Wichita, Hannah said he hopes to open a showroom soon that will display the company's nine styles and 14 colors.

And with his business rapidly expanding, he plans to eventually add more salespeople and installers.

Hannah said his success goes straight back to the product he is selling.

"One, it controls the water. Secondly, it's low maintenance. Lastly, it looks good two, five, 10, even 30 years from now," he said. "That's what people love about it."
