Blockbuster Appoints New Nz Management Team

US-based Blockbuster Inc has appointed a new management team in New Zealand.

(Sunday, December 09, 2007) - Rick Wight, a former Blockbuster area senior executive for Australia/Asia, would manage and oversee the operations of the home rental entertainment business in this country, Blockbuster said today.

It had operated in the New Zealand market for more than 12 years where there were 37 Blockbuster franchise stores.

Under the new management team, Blockbuster franchise stores would continue normal business operations, the company said.

Seven Blockbuster stores are owned by Icon Digital Entertainment, which went into voluntary administration last month. It also operated the Sounds music chain.

Last Thursday, BDO Spicers said it was aiming to continue to trade through Christmas and had received a number of expressions of interest in the business.
