Securit Announces Death Of Founder And Ceo

(Monday, October 01, 2007) - With deep sorrow, Securit Information Security announces that its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Greg Brophy, was killed Sunday September 30, 2007 in a small plane crash in Alaska. Three others, including Greg's eldest brother Sean Brophy, also died in the crash.

Securit extends its condolences to Greg's wife Tracey, and their three children, Christopher, Megan and Kirsten, to Sean's wife and family, and the families of the other two who were aboard.

Greg Brophy's passion for business and desire to create a highly successful enterprise led him to found Shred-it, the document destruction division of Securit, in 1988. As President and CEO, Mr. Brophy built Shred-it into one of the world's leading on site document destruction companies. Greg Brophy was the 1993 winner of the Federal Business Development Bank "Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award"� for Ontario. He was selected for his innovative spirit, business success and community involvement. Mr. Brophy was honoured as the "Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year"� in 1994 by Ernst & Young, and in 1995 he was recognized as one of Canada's "Top 40 under 40"�. Securit was one of "Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies"� in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2003, Mr. Brophy created the Securit Foundation and dedicated over one million dollars to charity and education in markets served and developing countries.

The members of the company's Executive Committee are continuing to manage Securit's business affairs. Securit assures all associates, franchise owners, and customers that, despite this terrible news, the company will continue to provide industry leading customer service and unmatched information security.
