"Work Hard. Play Harder" Takes On New "Controversial" Meaning At Circuit City!

Circuit City's new back to school campaign encourages customers to "Work Hard. Player Harder." Sound familiar? It should. It's also Gecko Hospitality's patent-protected tagline. A coincidence? Who knows?

(Tuesday, July 31, 2007) - Robert Krzak founder and CEO of Gecko Hospitality stated, " My jaw hit the floor when I walked into Circuit City and saw our slogan plastered everywhere." According to trademark law no violation has occurred because Gecko Hospitality and Circuit City are not in competing markets. Yet, one can't help but wonder if it's pure coincidence. Would a company as large as circuit city actually launch a marketing campaign without doing prior research? "It appears that Circuit City's creative team came up with an award winning slogan, at least we think they did," offered Krzak. "Hey, if it's good enough for a billion dollar company, I'll take that as a compliment.
