Five Guys Burgers Seeking Franchise Sites Here To Murfreesboro
MURFREESBORO (Thursday, August 23, 2007) -
Franchisees of a popular burger joint are scouting sites to open at least two restaurants in Murfreesboro, said a spokesperson for Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries. The Virginia-based restaurant chain has been showered with accolades by such publications as the Washington Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine for the best burger or best fries. "We don't have a lease signed as of yet," said Molly Catalano, Five Guys spokesperson, "but we are looking at a location in the area and could be open by December or January." According to a report in the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the franchisees — former Krystal executives Jim Richards and Glen Griffiths — have committed to open at least 10 locations in Rutherford, Hamilton and Bradley counties in Tennessee and Whitfield and Catossa counties in Georgia. Most of those restaurants will be in the Chattanooga area. Five Guys offers only a simple menu with a variety of burgers made from fresh ground beef, hot dogs and veggie or grill cheese sandwiches. The restaurant's Web site lists locations in Hixon and Knoxville and one coming soon to the Green Hills area of Nashville. For more information on Five Guys, visit www.fiveguys.com. After being located in the Wal-Mart shopping center on Rutherford Boulevard for three years, Candle Scents is relocating to The Oaks Shopping Center in September. "I think it will be a much better spot because it is right in the middle of everything," said owner Dawn Franker, mentioning its location near the Stones River Mall and The Avenue, which is nearing completion on Medical Center Parkway. She said the current location in the corner of the large shopping center is hidden from many potential customers. Candle Scents will move into a space next door to HobbyTown USA by the first week of September, Franker hopes. Franker considers herself a candle maker. She makes most of the candles herself in the shop offering candles in more than 85 fragrances. Franker can fill almost any heat-resistant container customers bring in to her shop with a custom candle. Candle Scents carries such brands as Trapp Candles, Warm Glow, Time and Again, and Lampe Berger alcohol-based fragrance lamps. Several other businesses such as 2 Cute, The Peanut Gallery, HobbyTown USA and the Music & Arts Center have relocated to The Oaks from Rutherford Boulevard and downtown Murfreesboro for hopes of better business. From what I am hearing, they are getting it.
