Taco Bell Taps Winner In Teen Reporter Challenge

ATLANTA (Friday, June 22, 2007) - Chris Maxwell, 17, a member of The Salvation Army J.B. Fuqua Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta, won a one-week internship at NBC as part of the grand prize in the Taco Bell Teen Reporter Challenge.

Maxwell was one of four finalists in the competition based on a 50-word essay describing "Why I Want to be a Teen Reporter." At the Teen Reporter Finals, each contestant read their essay, conducted an interview with former NBA player Dennis Scott, and delivered a weather report from a "tropical storm" before 1,110 fellow Boys & Girls Club members.

Paradise Quinn, 17, a member of the A.R. "Gus" Barksdale Boys & Girls Club, won the runner-up trophy and a one-day internship at Sports Radio 790 in Atlanta. Quinn will help write, record and produce its "Outside the Bun" segment with an Atlanta Braves player.

Taco Bell Foundation treated the attending Boys & Girls Clubs teens to a day at Six Flags Over Georgia and presented local Clubs with a $165,000 grant. Funding supports additional field trips for teens, including college and career tours, cultural trips, and community service projects.

The grant was made possible through Taco Bell customer and employee donations. Since 2003, 117 Atlanta-area Taco Bell restaurants have raised more than $500,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs teen programs.
