Re/max Buys Seattle Franchise
(Friday, June 01, 2007) -
Re/Max International Inc. has purchased its Re/Max Northwest franchise for undisclosed terms.
Re/Max Northwest of Seattle is the Re/Max real estate brokerage chain's largest operation in Washington state. The franchise closed roughly $2 billion in home sales in 2006.
Based in Denver, Re/Max International is a residential and commercial real estate brokerage company with more than 6,500 offices worldwide and 120,000 agents.
Re/Max Northwest has 320 agents in six offices, and plans to open a seventh office in August.
"There will be no name change, and no change in personnel. ... For the agents, business will continue as usual," Dave Liniger, Re/Max International co-founder and chairman, said in a statement.
The Seattle brokerage firm's previous owners -- Jerry Martin, Russ Schustek and Gary Hackney -- purchased the franchise in 2002. They will continue to manage Re/Max Northwest's day-to-day business operations.
Re/Max Northwest's original owners, Ralph and Margie Ripley, remained with the brokerage as salespeople and plan to stay with the company under its new ownership. The Ripleys opened Re/Max Northwest in 1992.
