Wyndham Hotels And Resorts Uncorks The Mystery Of French Wine With New Bordeaux And Backyard Burger Summer Menu
(Wednesday, May 30, 2007) -
This summer, guests at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts can discover a casual new way to enjoy French wines through Wyndham's new Bordeaux and Backyard Burger menu offering.
In a France-meets-America twist, Wyndham's executive chefs and the French Bordeaux trade group Counseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), created a menu of specially-selected Bordeaux varietals with Wyndham's new all-American Backyard Burger. Guests can choose between a flight of three 2 oz. Bordeaux tastings paired with an appetizer of mini-Backyard Burgers or pair individual glasses of Bordeaux varietals with the brand's signature full-size burger.
"We've reinvented the classic hamburger and paired it with something unexpected," said Peter Strebel, president of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. "In keeping with Wyndham's casual yet upscale guest experience, this special summer menu gives both wine amateurs and enthusiasts the opportunity to discover the complex taste of Bordeaux wines in a fun way by pairing them with our signature burger and fries."
Wyndham's Backyard Burger is named for the quintessential patty flipped on backyard grills across America. The 1/2-pound, 100 percent Black Angus beef burger includes a unique spice recipe that gives it a robust and zesty flavor and is topped with white cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, hearty tomatoes, red onions and toasted cross bun.
Four Bordeaux varietals were selected by the CIVB to complement the mouthwatering taste of Wyndham's Backyard Burger.
"Pairing food with French wine is simpler than most people would guess," said Pascal Loridon, director of US marketing for the CIVB. "The rich taste of the Backyard Burger is an easy, natural match for the balanced but structured flavor of Bordeaux wines."
Featured wines from the Bordeaux region include:
Michel Lynch Merlot: This deep ruby red wine offers blackberry, cherry and plum aromas with a powerful, fruit forward finish. Chateau Puy Boyrien Rouge: This delicious red emits fruit aromas and tastes supple, smooth and elegant. Chateau Listran: This red varietal offers fruit aromas with excellent depth and soft tannins. Michel Lynch Sauvignon Blanc: This crisp white wine releases aromas of green apples, grapefruit and melon with a long, lasting finish. To help guests understand which wine will best suit their individual tastes, Wyndham bar and wait staff underwent extensive training by CIVB-certified wine educators to learn the tasting notes and nuances of the Bordeaux varietals.
Participating Wyndham Hotels and Resorts will offer the Bordeaux and Backyard Burger program from July 1 – Sept. 30, 2007. Visitors can indulge in these meals pool-side, at the restaurant or in-room.
