Drury Mirror Staff Meets Too Hotties

DRURY UNIVERSITY (Friday, September 17, 2004) - Men aren't the exclusive clients at Too Hotties, so don't think you can't get your hair cut if you're a woman. In fact, some of the promotions Too Hotties runs during the week are aimed at attracting women.

Regularly men can get their hair cut for $17, but their first cut is free. Absolutely free. They also do waxing, highlighting and color, but not for free.

The only drawback to Too Hotties is that it might seem a little degrading to women, cutting hair in mini-skirts and low-cut tops. Too Hotties capitalizes on the stereotypes of both men and women - that all men want to do is watch sports, play games and ogle women and women will tease, taunt and flirt with these men. I cannot decipher what is and isn't immoral or degrading for you, that line is much too thin and blurry for any one person to walk. But sometimes, in this free market system we find ourselves in where sexuality does sell, morality and business do not go hand-in-hand. Don't get me wrong, Too Hotties is by all means tasteful. But whether it is degrading or not is not for me to say.

"I think they'll have a good time," Van Roekel says about students coming to get their hair cut. "They'll come over and get a good haircut."

This is true - you will get a good haircut at Too Hotties, by a girl in a mini-skirt, after you've played some video games and shot some pool. It's just smart business.
