Medichair Nanaimo's Scooter Safety Course Draws Large Crowd

NANAIMO, BC (Wednesday, May 16, 2007) - A crowd of approximately 100 people attended MEDIchair Nanaimo's

first ever Mobility Scooter Safety Course on Thursday May 10. "We are very pleased

with the turnout and the positive feedback from both industry professionals and area

residents who participated in the safety course," says Mickey Jahelka, co-owner,

MEDIchair Nanaimo. "We are definitely going to hold this public safety event again

next year."



In co-operation with local RCMP, BC Transit, Occupational Therapists, scooter

manufacturers and the Insurance Corporation of BC, MEDIchair hosted its

inaugural Mobility Scooter Rodeo at its store parking lot on Bowen Road.

During the three-hour free event, area residents heard presentations from industry

professionals, witnessed proper product use demonstrations, and received

hands-on opportunities to test drive scooters and power wheel chairs through a

safety course. Residents also got to see first hand how buses and vans can be

made scooter and wheel chair friendly.
