Franchise Show Set To Register More Business Deals
MALAYSIA (Friday, May 11, 2007) -
BIGGER business deals are due to be conducted at the Franchise International Malaysia 2007 (FIM 2007) as the event draws more interest, the head of the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) said.
MFA chairman Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir said he is optimistic of seeing this happen based on the increasing number of both local and foreign companies which will participate.
The event will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre for four days starting June 2.
He noted that the event held in 2006 managed to register some RM200 million in business transactions.
He said the food and beverage sector led the way at 37 per cent, retailing at 20 per cent while services and education at 10.5 per cent and 9.5 per cent respectively.
"Although I can't give a specific figure, we are optimistic that this year's event may be better," he told reporters after the official launch of FIM 2007 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Deputy Minister Datuk Khamsiyah Yeop officiated at the event.
Mukhriz said FIM, which is entering its 14th consecutive year since it started in 1994, is expected to act as a platform to attract foreign investments into Malaysia.
He said MFA aims to attract more international participation this year from countries such as the US, the UK, Australia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, India, Singapore, In donesia and the Philippines.
"FIM 2007 with the theme 'Pathway to Global Ventures' will encompass an exhibition, conference and seminar, but most importantly, it will be a stage for entrepreneurs to form strategic alliances," he said, noting that 32 companies has so far confirmed participation.
