George Whalin, Keynote Speaker - [Whalin] is a retail marketing specialist that will add a lot to the program, said Ventresca. He will also give our franchisees on going up-to-date marketing strategies that can be used on a daily basis. Whalin started his career on the sales floor in the 1960s when he managed the original Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard. He eventually set out on his own opening Whalins Sound City with stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He sold the business and became the senior training manager for a 125-store consumer electronics chain. He founded Retail Management Consultants in 1987 and now provides business-building services to retail companies across North America. He is regularly quoted in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and many other trade magazines and newspapers across the country.
LynnRae Ries, Gluten-Free Living - She is a strong member of the CDF, GIG, CSA CCA and actively volunteers. She was diagnosed with celiac disease in October of 1999. Since then, she has donated much of her time to celiac support groups. She is the director of the Gluten-Free Cooking Club and School. She is a graduate of the School of Natural Cookery, and is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Minnesota with degrees in Small Business and Communications. Ries has successfully put-to-print Gluten Free Friendly menus for the Phoenix area. Ries has authored Delicious Gluten Free, Wheat Free Breads for the Bread Machine and What? No Wheat? – A lighthearted primer to living the gluten free life and is the publisher and a writer for Gluten Free e-News – Grains of information for those living the gluten free life and she is a well-respected column contributed to CDF Quarterly Newsletter.
Susan L. Meacham, Ph.D., R.D., Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition Sciences, School of Health and Human Sciences, University of Nevada Las Vegas. - She will present a seminar on The Benefits of Vitamin and Mineral Adequacy in Life Long Health.
