Burger King Signs Agreement to Open Restaurants in Egypt and North Africa

(Thursday, March 29, 2007) - Burger King Corp., operator of the world's second-largest hamburger chain, said Thursday its European division reached an agreement to open restaurants in Egypt and other countries in north Africa.
Burger King Europe GmbH, has given Hana International Company Ltd. the exclusive rights to develop its restaurants in the region. Hana International is the food services unit of the privately held Olayan Group's Saudi and Middle Eastern arm. Through Hana International, Olayan operates or services more than 180 Burger King restaurants in the Middle East.

The first Burger King restaurant is scheduled to open in Cairo during the first half of 2007. Two additional Egyptian restaurants are scheduled to follow in Sharm El Sheikh.

Burger King shares rose 19 cents to close at $21.25 on the New York Stock Exchange.
