Servicemaster Clean Franchise Executive To Lead International Franchise Association

(Tuesday, February 27, 2007) - Michael M. Isakson, president and chief operating officer of ServiceMaster Franchise Services Group, today was named chairman of the International Franchise Association. He accepted the gavel of leadership during the association's 47th annual convention, conducted at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

IFA, founded in 1960, serves as the "Voice of Franchising." It represents a membership of more than 1,100 franchise parent companies, 8,000 franchisees who operate the establishments and 400 firms that supply goods and services to the sector.

Isakson is responsible for more than 4,000 franchisees worldwide with sales totaling more than $1.5 billion annually. He leads ServiceMaster Clean, Furniture Medic and AmeriSpec brands, which are part of The ServiceMaster's Company portfolios of brands. ServiceMaster is a $3.4 billion dollar company. ServiceMaster Co. specializes in residential and commercial cleaning services, disaster restoration, on-site furniture repair, and home inspections. In addition, Isakson oversees the international operations of Terminix, Trugreen and Merry Maids.

After owning a ServiceMaster franchise in Bismarck, N.D. for 13 years and a Merry Maids franchise for two years, Isakson and his wife Jenny received ServiceMaster's Marion E. Wade Award of Honor. Isakson joined the corporate team as vice president of franchise sales in 1990. In 1992, he was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Merry Maids, and in 1994 he was appointed president of the ServiceMaster Consumer Services Franchise Services Group. He has served as co-chair of the IFA Franchisor Forum.

ServiceMaster is part of a franchising sector that creates more than 18 million jobs and generates $1.53 trillion in activity for the U.S. economy, according to a recent study conducted for the IFA Educational Foundation by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
