Big Brothers Big Sisters Launches Recruitment Initiative, Invites The Public To Learn More At Three Phoenix-area Events
(Wednesday, October 18, 2006) -
With nearly 600 children waiting for mentors in Phoenix's West Valley, and almost 50 adult volunteers waiting for Little Brothers and Little Sisters in the East Valley, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona is partnering with Peter Piper Pizza to launch a first-of-its-kind recruitment initiative. Three recruitment events will be held by Peter Piper Pizza on Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters in serving the youth of this area.
"Our need for Big Brothers and Big Sisters has been steadily growing over the years, and is at its highest point ever in the West Valley – some children have been waiting two years for a mentor," said Scott Weesner, Event Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters. "However, this is the first time in our chapter's history that we've actively recruited in this way for Little Brothers and Little Sisters as well. We see first hand what an impact mentoring has on children, and with wonderful volunteers ready and waiting, we need to get more youth in the East Valley involved in this program."
The following three events are open to the public at no charge. Big Brothers Big Sisters will make a formal presentation about their programs at each event, and Peter Piper Pizza is providing pizza and beverages to all attendees.
