Frenchtown, Nj Postalannex+ To Partner With Operation Shoebox

Will Gather Items to Send to Local Area Military Personnel Serving Overseas

FRENCHTOWN, NJ (Wednesday, November 08, 2006) - PostalAnnex+ in Frenchtown is proud to announce their partnership with Operation Shoebox New Jersey in an effort to collect items which will be packaged and sent to local area servicemen and women who are currently serving in our armed forces in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan as well as other posts in the Middle East. There will be a collection box set up at the store located at 29 Race Street (in the courtyard next to the National Hotel) where items can be dropped off.

"We're really excited to be working with Operation Shoebox New Jersey", said PostalAnnex+ store owner Nick Dworski. "We found out about their organization through a newspaper article after an event that they did with the Somerset Patriots earlier this year and we wanted to see what we could do to become involved and assist them with their collection efforts".

Operation Shoebox NJ is a non-profit organization that works in conjunction with the Hunterdon County Bulldogs - Detachment 927 of the Marine Corps League. Over the past 16 months, Operation Shoebox NJ volunteers have raised over $90,000 and shipped more than 7,000 care packages to US Armed Services personnel deployed overseas in these dangerous times.

Some of the items most requested by the troops are suntan lotion, bug spray, laundry detergent, baby wipes, coffee/tea, snacks, razors, blankets, socks, eye drops and batteries. Monetary contributions are also being accepted and will go towards the cost of shipping the care packages overseas. A simple $10 donation will cover the cost of shipping one package. The average cost for shipping each package is over $8. Checks should be made payable to "Operation Shoebox NJ". All contributions are tax deductible.

"This is definitely a worthwhile cause, especially at this time of year", said Dworski. "It's hard enough not having these kids home, but it's harder not having them home for the holidays. I'm sure that everyone can do a little something to let them know that we are thinking about them back home."
