May event is last chance for youth basketball teams to qualify for AAU Boys National Championship Tournaments and provides a final high-level tune-up for district qualifiers.

(Monday, January 15, 2007) - Many of the nation's top boys basketball players will assemble in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex Memorial Day weekend, hoping to take advantage of their last opportunity to qualify for the AAU Boys Basketball National Championships this summer.
The three-day Super Regional, to be held at Frisco ISD gyms May 25-27, also represents a final chance to face top competition for teams that already have qualified for a National Championship tournament by virtue of playing and placing at their local District qualifying tournament.


The Super Regional Championship is open to all AAU-member basketball teams in the United States, and each team will play a minimum of three games. Teams will compete in the following age groups:


Ø 10 and under/4th grade

Ø 11 and under/5th grade

Ø 12 and under/6th grade

Ø 13 and under/7th grade

Ø 14 and under/8th grade

Ø 15 and under/9th grade

Ø 16 and under/10th grade

Ø Junior Boys/11th grade and under
