Savor The Tastes Of Summer With Carefree Meals At Friendly's

(Wednesday, June 28, 2006) - The crack of July 4th fireworks means that summer is really here. With sun-filled days and sultry evenings come all the tastes that make summer specialâ€"like tangy barbecue, sweet corn and ripe tomatoes, and deliciously cool ice cream.

Friendly's new Tastes of Summer entrées offer a carefree way to savor the summer season -- without cooking in a hot kitchen or firing up the grill. Each entrée is packed with summer flavor and at many Friendly's includes a free Happy Ending Sundae made with Friendly's famous ice cream.

"Summer should be a time to relax and enjoy beautiful weather and delicious food. With our Tastes of Summer entrées, everyone can come to Friendly's and have a carefree lunch or dinner without lifting a pot," said Pete Bell, Vice President, Marketing. "It's a great way to give the whole family a treat even if you're not on vacation."

Between July 5 and August 20, Friendly's will feature four Tastes of Summer entrees:

• BBQ Chicken Platter – A classic summer dinner with two grilled chicken breasts in barbecue glaze, topped with Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, hickory-smoked bacon, and scallions. Served over crispy Fronions, with mashed potatoes, corn and grilled garlic bread.

• Steak Fajita Quesadillas – Fajita-marinated steak, sautéed onions, and red and green bell peppers are covered with Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, and served between flour tortillas. Accompanied by shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, scallions, a side of seasoned rice and salsa.

• Chicken Strips Basket – This long-time favorite includes crispy strips of chicken breast; golden fries; crisp, tangy cole slaw, and a choice of honey mustard or BBQ sauce.

• New England Fish ‘N Chips – Seafood lovers can feast on tender, tavern-battered cod fillets, served golden brown, with fries, a heaping portion of cole slaw, tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.

A cool ending to a Tastes of Summer meal is a free Happy Ending Sundae, made with any of Friendly's ice cream flavors; dark, hot fudge sauce; whipped topping, and a cherry. For an extra special treat, many guests can upgrade to a three-scoop sundae for only $1.50.

This summer, guests who dream of concocting a unique sundae, all their own, can visit www.friendlys.com, where they'll be able to create their favorite sundae and enter to win a dream vacation of their choice.
