Qdoba Mexican Grill Goes Tropical; Introduces Chicken Mango Salad

(Tuesday, August 01, 2006) - When the heat is on, Qdoba Mexican Grill knows customers search for lighter fare, and the Chicken Mango Salad will hit the spot. It recently was introduced into select locations in Colorado and Florida as a test item for the growing franchise.

The new item blends Qdoba's tropical mango salsa with a tangy lime vinaigrette dressing over shredded romaine lettuce and their signature adobo chicken. The salad is presented in a crispy tortilla bowl served with cheese and sour cream. The menu item, like all of Qdoba's options, are not pre-made and can be customized to fit any guests liking. The tropical mango salsa is made in the restaurant and customers can request to have their Chicken Mango Salad naked, without the bowl. The price of the Chicken Mango Salad is $ 5.99 in most locations.

"We had been looking for another salad option for our guests and the Chicken Mango Salad is a choice that is both refreshing and tangy," said Ted Stoner, research and development director.

The Chicken Mango Salad is the first creation of Stoner since entering his research and development position. The concept of creating a mango salsa had been a plan with executives at Qdoba, but it was Stoner that brought it to life. Using his culinary experience, Stoner decided to also create a tangy lime vinaigrette dressing to complement the mango salsa flavors.
