Ben & Jerry's Asks: Who Deserves A Random Act Of Cone-ness?; New Yorkers Invited To Cone A Friend With Ben & Jerry's Newest Treat; 50,000 Cones To Be Sampled Across Nyc During Random Acts Of Cone-ness

(Tuesday, May 23, 2006) - Ever want to do something nice for someone but never got around to it? Something really cone-siderate? Well here's the chance to finally get it done.

Ben & Jerry's is inviting New Yorkers to celebrate Random Acts of Cone-ness Week by sending its newest ice cream treat, The Cone, to someone special during the week of May 22, 2006. The cone is a packaged all-natural waffle cone loaded with Ben & Jerry's legendary ice cream flavors -- Cookie Dough(R) and Cherry Garcia(R).

New Yorkers can send a cone as an act of cone-ness by stopping by the Ben & Jerry's Cone Zone at Greeley Square (33rd Street at 6th & Broadway) on Wednesday, May 24 between 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

But you don't have to just send a cone; you can get one, too. Ben & Jerry's will not only make door-to-door deliveries of multi-packs of The Cone, but will also distribute 50,000 free samples, or 230,000 mouth-watering ounces, of The Cone to ice cream lovers in New York all around the Cone Zone throughout the week. Deliveries will be made from 14th Street to 59th Street and from 3rd Avenue to 8th Avenue between Wednesday, May 24 and Friday, May 26.

"There's nothing like an ice cream cone to bring a smile to someone's face," said Lisa DeNatale, Director of Marketing. "By delivering The Cone through these Random Acts of Cone-ness, we hope to spread good feelings for the mind, belly and soul to the people of New York City."

There are as many ways to do a Random Act of Cone-ness as there are Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors. For example:

-- Cone-gratulate a new mom

-- Make a cone-nection with someone you care about

-- Thank someone for being cone-scientious at work

Ben & Jerry's is also searching for the top 100 Americans who deserve to coned in the its national Random Acts of Cone-ness Contest. It's easy to enter: Simply visit www.benjerrys.com before June 30, 2006 and submit a 100-word essay on why someone in your life needs to get coned. He or she could be one of 100 people around the country to be selected to receive a free case of The Cone and lasting fame in the contest.

The Cone from Ben & Jerry's is the first super-premium ice cream cone of its kind available to ice cream lovers. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough features vanilla ice cream with a cookie dough swirl and fudge chunks, and Cherry Garcia features cherry ice cream with sweet dark cherries. Each flavor is topped with fudge chunks and served up in a waffle cone coated with chocolate on the inside. The Cone is available at supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide. The suggested retail price (SRP) for a multi-pack of three cones is $3.99 and for a single cone the SRP is $2.19.
