Granite Bay Residents Open One Of The First Sport Clips In State Of California

(Wednesday, September 20, 2006) - Granite Bay residents Matt and Jody Ellinwood have launched one of California's first Sport Clips shops in Roseville.

The haircut shop will be located at 2030 Douglas Blvd., Suite 44 in the Rocky Ridge Town Center.

"We are very excited to be introducing Sport Clips to Roseville," said Jody Ellinwood. "We believe we have selected the perfect location."

Founded in 1995 by franchise veteran Gordon Logan and headquartered in Georgetown, Texas, the privately held Sport Clips, Inc., is a sports-themed hair care franchise for men and boys with more than 340 stores in 28 states.

The business is the official haircutter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and offers preferential pricing to all veterans.

Both Matt, a Sacramento Metro firefighter, and Jody, who owns her own computer consulting company, will continue their careers.

The couple has two children, Clint, 11, and Claire, 10, who attend Ridgeview Elementary School. The shop's grand opening will take place Oct. 6 and will include discounts and free promotions.

Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Created with the sports fan in mind, Sport Clips clients can tune into the football game on the waiting room's big screen TV and continue watching the game at their stylist's station.

Sport Clips offers boys' haircuts for $13 and men's haircuts for $16.

The MVP treatment includes a haircut, massaging shampoo, steamed towel, and shoulder and neck massage for $21.

Fully equipped for the sports enthusiast, customers are surrounded by sports-themed decor that includes jerseys, pennants, lockers, and sports memorabilia available for purchase.

"It's as if ESPN meets a barbershop," said Jody. "Guys can walk in without an appointment, watch sports, talk sports, and hang out in a comfortable environment."

The couple is planning to open at least two more locations in the Sacramento area in the next two years.
