Mcdonald's Selects 25 "Stars" From First-ever Online Global Casting Call

New Faces To Be Featured On Packaging Seen By Millions Around The World

(Wednesday, August 09, 2006) - McDonald's today announced the 25 "Stars" selected from its first-ever online Global Casting Call who will be seen on its packaging early next year by more than 50 million customers a day. The twenty-five were selected from 13,000 entries from more than 100 countries around the globe.

Consumers from all corners of the world submitted online at www.mcdglobalcasting.com personal stories of what they love in 100 words or less along with a digital photo capturing the essence of their stories. The final 25 selected "Stars" (ranging in ages from five to 60+ years) were chosen based on their entries capturing the "i'm lovin' it®" spirit, celebrating real people, real passions and real stories.

"The thousands of extraordinary entries submitted to our first online global casting call far exceeded our expectations," said Mary Dillon, McDonald's Global Chief Marketing Officer. "We're thrilled to provide the final 25 individuals selected with the unique opportunity of having their images shared with our 50 million customers a day worldwide. The 25 worldwide "Stars" selected from McDonald's online Global Casting Call are:

Europe

1. Stéphane Rousson from Rouen, France – hopes to be the first to fly a pedal-operated dirigible balloon over the English Channel

2. Aldwin Colas from Draguignan, France – 12-year-old (almost 13) boy with a passion for golf and a self-described resemblance to his favorite famous golfer

3. Iñigo Aymat from Madrid, Spain – loves the sensation of living life to the fullest as he skydives

4. Paolo Tazzari from Ravenna, Italy – avid beach tennis player who won the Italian National Championship three years in a row

5. Kim-Alexandra Zuhlke from Wesel, Germany – loves to "fly" across the water when she goes wakeboarding, which she describes as snowboarding on water

6. Isabella Herkner from Wien, Austria – passionate about diving and underwater sea life, particularly in the Red Sea

7. Jade Hitchen from Benfleet, United Kingdom – 11-year-old girl who has fun combining her passions for art, music and fashion

8. Christoph Latzer from Griez, Germany – a McDonald's restaurant employee, he enjoys the reward of being able to help people as a volunteer at a local fire station


North America

9. Terri Kacie from Pinellas Park, Florida, USA – physically-challenged young woman who loves outdoor sports, particularly rappelling

10. Ocean Smith from Chicago, Illinois, USA – 10-year-old trumpet player who is in his school band and performed at a Chicago jazz club

11. Paula Glenn from Dallas, Texas, USA – volunteer traffic mom at her daughter's school who eagerly protects the children from drivers in a hurry

12. David Dean from Johnstown, Ohio, USA – defies gravity as he careens down hills as a professional street luger

13. Nick Mortell from Kapaa, Hawaii, USA – a high school student who loves watching and playing football

14. Joseph Perez from Glendora, California, USA – 23-year-old from Southern California whose passion is restoring and driving classic muscle cars from the 70's

15. Lynnette Abad from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA – feels the presence of nature as she drives the open road on her motorcycle

16. Sam DeCrispino from Parkton, Maryland, USA – 60+ year-old who shares a love of lacrosse with his 15-year-old son

17. Lesley Dahl from Magrath, Alberta, Canada – 50+ year-old who feels alive in body and soul as she and her husband, Devar, hike trails around the world

Asia-Pacific

18. Jin Bao from Shanghai, China – realized her life-long dream of wearing a costume from China's national opera, of which she is a passionate fan

19. Kim Shiman from Dae Jun, South Korea – a McDonald's restaurant employee and student at Hannam University, where he plays cello in the competition orchestra

20. Felicia Yee from Singapore – from the warm climate of Singapore, loved her experience of the sight and feel of her first snowfall

21. Kelly Ann James from Sydney, Australia – loves the music, jazz and style of the 40's and is now an Australian swing dance champion

Latin America

22. Roseli Goncalves do Espirito Santo from São Paulo, Brazil – teacher of Brazilian sign language for 18 years, she loves being able to communicate with her deaf students

23. Mary Anne Sebold Barbosa from Santo Andre, Brazil – 22-year-old who dreamt of becoming a professional ballerina since she was little; still dancing towards her dream

24. Xavier Cotto Bartolomei from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico – wants to share his passion for playing the drums as he believes a positive message is carried along with his songs

25. Roni Ahumada Carvalho from Buenos Aires, Argentina – a 5-year-old, this youngest "Star" has been enjoying the water since he was 5-months-old and now loves swimming along the bottom of the sea

Lights, Camera, Action!

McDonald's is treating the 25 "Stars" to an all-expense paid trip for them and a guest to London, England the week of August 21, complete with tours of Windsor Castle and Tower of London, croquet party, tickets to award-winning play "Mama Mia" (including meet and greet with the cast), and celebration parties. A main focus of the trip will be the photo session with each of the "Stars" and renowned lifestyle photographer, Nick Clements, who has worked with world famous celebrities and fashion magazines. The photos will feature the "Stars" demonstrating their "passions." In 2007, these images will be featured on McDonald's most prominent packaging – cups and bags – and seen by millions of customers worldwide for more than a year.
