Jackson Hewitt National Guard 'Heroes Of The Year' Campaign Acknowledges Ohio Command Sergeant Major David G. Collins

Career Guardsman Recognized as Monthly Honoree in Nationwide Program

(Thursday, November 09, 2006) - Ohio Command Sergeant Major David G. Collins, CSM, has been named a monthly finalist in the Jackson Hewitt National Guard "Heroes of the Year" campaign. Sponsored by Jackson Hewitt Tax ServiceŽ, an industry leader providing full service individual federal and state income tax preparation, this year-long campaign honors National Guard soldiers, families and even employers around the country who have made a difference in their states or on foreign shores. CSM Collins was recognized by Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman and Jackson Hewitt CEO Michael Lister in a ceremony at City Hall today. CSM Collins also participated in the city's annual Veterans' Day parade as an invited guest of the Mayor.

"Since signing up for the Army National Guard 35 years ago, CSM Collins has exemplified himself as a dedicated soldier and mentor to his troops," said Michael Lister, President and Chief Executive Officer for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. "Over the years, he has received many letters of appreciation from soldiers for his constant encouragement and support. He leads by example to those around him, and Jackson Hewitt appreciates his strength of character and many years of service within the community."

CSM David Collins joined the Ohio National Guard in 1971 and has held several positions since then. He served as First Sergeant and Senior Operations NCO at 2-174th ADA in McConnelsville, Ohio, for over 25 years. He served in Iraq and Kuwait with the 371st Corps Support Group for 15 months, where he supervised over 4,500 troops in various camps throughout the region. He received a Bronze Star Medal for his support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Most recently, CSM Collins was part of the 73rd Troop Command in Columbus, holding the position of Command Sergeant Major. He has recently retired.

Domestically, he has contributed years of service to his home state of Ohio. He has also assisted other areas around the country. He supervised 2,500 National Guard troops from many states supporting Hurricane Katrina relief efforts while based at Stennis International Airport in Mississippi.

In nominating her husband, Lillian Collins notes that he is "honest, committed and never asks anything of his troops that he wouldn't do, or tasks beyond their training." He hails from Athens, Ohio, and has two sons and five adoring grandchildren.

The Jackson Hewitt National Guard "Heroes of the Year" campaign provides a unique opportunity for people to nominate a loved one, friend or neighbor who serves in the Army National Guard. Each monthly honoree has the chance to participate in an opportunity of a lifetime -- to have his or her image featured on a NASCAR race car that will be raced at a 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Race. This is the first time that a non-celebrity's image will be featured on a NASCAR race car.

The grand prize winner and their guests will also enjoy a memorable VIP experience as they cheer on their car trackside at a race. In addition to spotlighting soldiers, the campaign also recognizes families and employers who show exceptional support for, and service to, the core mission and values of the National Guard.

To nominate a soldier, family or employer and recognize their dedication to and support of the National Guard's mission, visit www.supporttheguard.com. Soldiers, families and employers will be selected for monthly spotlights on the site with a photo and commentary on what makes them true heroes. A grand prize in each category (Soldier, Family and Employer) will be awarded. In each case, nominees will be judged on service to their community, their support of the values of the National Guard and the unique ways they have enhanced their lives and the lives of those around them through their affiliation with the Guard.

No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not improve a participant's chances of winning. Open to all legal U.S. residents. Void where prohibited. Sweepstakes ends on December 16, 2006. For full, official rules, go to www.supporttheguard.com.
