Rent-a-wreck Celebrates Five Years In New Iberia

NEW IBERIA (Friday, June 16, 2006) - Rent-A-Wreck and local franchise owner Craig Duhon are proud to announce the 5th anniversary of the neighborhood car rental company with the funny name in New Iberia. Located at 1312 West Admiral Doyle Drive in New Iberia, Craig's Rent-A-Wreck is one of more than 350 franchise locations worldwide.

Born and raised in New Iberia, Craig worked with the local fire department for five years, eventually becoming more involved in the operation of his father's family business, Duhon's Body Shop. In an effort to expand the body shop business, five years ago Craig Duhon purchased the Rent-A-Wreck from the former owner who had operated in New Iberia since 1997. Craig bought Rent-A-Wreck and added it to the same building as Duhon's Body Shop.

The combination and proximity of these two businesses allows Craig to quickly fix and maintain the cars he rents for a much lower price, passing the savings on to his customers. Meanwhile the customers can drop off their own car to be fixed and get a rental without having to walk further than a couple of feet.

"Our focus over the past five years has been to meet the used car rental and leasing needs of the community. We've made the Rent-A-Wreck name stand for quality and service," said Craig, who credits his success to wife Lori, who despite staying at home with their three kids, often helps around with the businesses. Craig also mentions that networking with various other Rent-A-Wreck franchise owners helped him grow his fleet, and make smart decisions. "In the future I hope to expand even further," says Craig "Right now, running two businesses is a hand-full, but we are in a good place. We're not going anywhere."

Rent-A-Wreck rents new and used cars, vans and trucks. Used vehicles are typically two to four years old. Every Rent-A-Wreck vehicle is expertly serviced and safety inspected before each rental. Most standard sized and models, including vans and trucks are available.
