Seattle Sutton Receives Chamber Chairman's Award

(Friday, May 26, 2006) - Seattle Sutton, R.N., B.S.N, Founder and President of Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating received the Chairman's Award from the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry at their annual meeting on May 25.

The annual meeting, in its 90th year, was held at Starved Rock Lodge, which recognizes those in the business community that have gone above and beyond in their field. This year's theme of the event is the "Spirit of the Entrepreneur."

Sutton, who received the prestigious Chairman's Award, was chosen because of her effort to start her company more than twenty years ago and grow it into what it is today. The company now serves meals nationwide and is a household name in the Midwest and beyond. It all started out of her desire to help people eat healthy, balanced meals without planning, shopping or cooking for themselves. Last year's sales grossed more than $20 million.

"I am honored to receive this award and am grateful to the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry for nurturing my entrepreneurial efforts for the past twenty years. I don't think the success of my business would have been possible without the support of this remarkable community. Thank you all for helping us make the business a success – helping thousands of people eat healthy," said Seattle Sutton.

"We selected Ms. Sutton because she exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit and has continued to stay true to her roots and her focus to help people through her company. She has helped our economy grow by growing her business locally and by awarding her this award, we are saying thank you for all her work," said Don Harris, Chairman of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He continued, "She truly epitomizes the spirit, vision, and commitment of the entrepreneur, and the dramatic impact that such initiative can have on a community. The vitality of the community is directly linked to the extraordinary benefit provided through the initiative, vision, and persistence displayed here, and the scope of the impact extends far beyond those directly involved in the business."
