Seattle Sutton Appointed To The Illinois Nurses Association Foundation Advisory Board

Well-Known Nurse and Entrepreneur to help Organization's Efforts

(Wednesday, September 06, 2006) - Seattle Sutton, R.N., B.S.N., Founder and President of Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating was recently appointed to the Illinois Nurses Association Foundation (INAF) Advisory Board. The INAF's mission is to seek and fund innovative solutions to the challenge of creating a healthier Illinois. And, its Advisory Board helps to accomplish this mission by promoting the nursing profession throughout the state.

The Illinois Nurses Association, in honor of its first 100 years, established the INAF in 2000/2001 to promote the health of the public by advancing the nursing profession in Illinois. The INAF carries out the mission through charitable, scientific, research, and educational programs. There is an endowment for scholarships and research, and monies have been granted since its inception.

"We chose Ms. Sutton because she exemplifies the essence of having great business acumen, nursing background, and knowledge of people in the community, all of which make her a valuable resource to assist us in building a valued and cherished profession, nursing. We truly appreciate that she has agreed to dedicate her time to this worth-while cause," said Maureen Shekleton, R.N., DNSc, FAAN, President of Illinois Nurses Association Foundation.

"I am honored at the opportunity to participate in the Illinois Nurses Association Foundation Advisory Board. The organization's mission to further promote nursing is in line with my own beliefs about the field. I believe my 50-plus years as a registered nurse and 20-plus years as an entrepreneur will come in handy while participating on the Advisory Board," said Sutton.

The Illinois Nurses Association is the pre-eminent voice for nurses in the state if Illinois. With over 100 years of exemplary service to our constituent members, the organization has consistently strived to address issues concerning nurses. As a result, this tenacity has translated into major improvements in working conditions, salaries, and employment contracts for our members. These victories are increasingly evident through the superior customer satisfaction expressed by our members. The Illinois Nurses Association hopes to continue with this trend by not only providing for our members, but also to promote the profession so that society, as a whole, may benefit from superior nursing care.
