Local Home Care Owners Work From The Heart

KENOSHA/RACINE WI (Wednesday, June 28, 2006) - Michael Callaghan was anxious for a new start and new opportunities.

Throughout his career he had always had the urge to run his own company, but as his career and life progressed, his focus became sharper.

Whatever the endeavor, it needed to be healthcare related, and have a senior citizen aspect to it.

These criteria were induced by two major events in Michael's life.

The first was a son who contracted cancer at the age of nine, went through two and one-half years of treatment frequently experiencing home health care and ultimately hospice care. He passed away at the age of 11.

The other event occurred simultaneously. This was Michael's aged parents moving in next door to Michael, and Kim, his wife.

"We were able to have Mike's father transition from a walker, to a wheelchair, ultimately to being bedridden and passing away while remaining at home; this was his wish" Kim said.

It became apparent in dealing with the needs of both parents that there was a large unfulfilled need for caregivers.

"We had to patch together a network of friends and relatives to cover all the needs" Callaghan said.

While researching on the web, Michael learned about Right at Home, a home health care franchise headquartered in Omaha, NE.

Over the next several months he was repeatedly drawn back to Right at Home and its senior care emphasis and ultimately abandoned other pursuits to focus on his own Right at Home franchise in the Kenosha/Racine Wisconsin area.
