Epcon Communities Moves Up On Builder Magazine's Top 100 List

(Monday, May 01, 2006) - For 23 years, BUILDER Magazine's May issue has published the BUILDER 100 Survey. The survey is the most widely known and respected listing throughout the industry, focusing on closings and gross revenue of builders and their improvement from the prior year.

Epcon Communities, under their previous EPMARK identity, first appeared on the BUILDER 100 list in 2003 at the number 43 spot, with a total of 1,625 closed units and $261 million in gross revenue. To be on the list for the first time and to be in the top 50 builders nationwide was a great achievement.

Epcon Communities and its franchisees are also unlike most national builders on the list in that the success comes not just from what the company builds but also what the franchisees build. "Among those in the top 100," says Vice President and General Manager, Thomas Rothrauff, "we are unique in that our franchisees contribute in a large part to our success."

2004 was a remarkable year for the homebuilding industry and Epcon Communities. Housing starts grew to 1.9 million units and total housing sales hit a record high of 1.2 million. According to BUILDER Magazine's BUILDER 100, the top 100 builders closed 448,851 homes and increased their market share to 37.1 percent. In 2005, more than 500,00 homes were closed with 36.57 percent market share.

In 2004, Epcon Communities moved up to the number 40 spot on the BUILDER 100 list and in 2005 Epcon Communities was ranked number 36. On another ranking, Epcon Communities was ranked the second largest condo builder in the United States.
