The Historic Heidelberg/capitol House Hotel Opens As The Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center After $60 Million Restoration
BATON ROUGE, LA (Friday, September 29, 2006) -
Hilton Hotels (NYSE:HLT) has announced that the historic Heidelberg/Capitol House Hotel in Baton Rouge has received a $60 million restoration and been converted to the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. The resulting 290-room landmark hotel is located at 201 Lafayette in picturesque downtown Baton Rouge and is adjacent to the Shaw Performing Arts Center and River Center Convention Center, less than five minutes from the state capitol and only three miles from LSU.
The Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center is owned and operated by Capitol House Hotel Operating Company, L.L.C.. under a franchise license agreement with Hilton Inns, Inc., a franchising subsidiary of Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corporation. The hotel is managed by Prism Hotels.
"With its rich cultural legacy and modern, elegant amenities, the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center is designed to help our guests achieve transformation, productivity and reinvigoration through travel," said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, Hilton Brand Management. "We are thrilled to welcome this iconic Baton Rouge landmark to the Hilton brand."
Built in 1927, the Heidelberg Hotel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 but has stood vacant since 1985. The restored facades of the original buildings will now house all the comforts and conveniences offered by modern hospitality.
Each of the 290 spacious guestrooms, of which eight are suites, is furnished with the new Hilton Serenity Bed, which features the Serta Suite Dreams(R) mattress and box springs, Pacific Coast(R) down duvet, Super Topper mattress pads, and high-quality linens and pillows. All rooms also have the Hilton Serenity Bath Collection, featuring the exclusive Crabtree & Evelyn line of La Source(R) bath amenities, and the easy-to-set Hilton Family alarm clock with MP3 player connectivity.
The hotel features a full-service restaurant & lounge, coffee shop, a third-floor pool deck and garden overlooking the Mississippi River and 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including two river view ballrooms. The hotel offers wireless high-speed internet (WiFi) in the guestrooms, public areas and the state-of-the-art business center. For fitness and relaxation, guests can enjoy the day spa, fitness center featuring Precor equipment, and the Hilton Eat Right(R) menu, which offers delicious and nutritionally-balanced meal options.
Travelers staying at this hotel have the opportunity to participate in the Hilton HHonors(R) guest reward program, allowing guests to earn both hotel points and airline miles for the same stay at more than 2,900 hotels worldwide.
