More Than $175,000 Awarded To Students During Culver's 2006 Vip Scholarship Ceremony

(Wednesday, August 09, 2006) - On Wednesday, August 9, 2006, Culver's® awarded 165 Culver's team members scholarships from the company's VIP Foundation during a ceremony held in honor of the team members' achievements at work and in the classroom. During the ceremony, each student received a Certificate of Excellence in addition to the scholarship. Each of the deserving scholars is pursuing post-high school education while working at one of more than 330 Culver's restaurants. Culver's VIP Foundation granted more than $175,000 in scholarships in 2006.
Held at the River Arts Center in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, the ceremony included a welcome address from Lea Culver, executive director of Culver's VIP Foundation and a speech from Kate Jaeger, a 2003, 2004 and 2005 VIP scholarship recipient. After the ceremony, a reception was held offering financial contributors of the Scholarship Fund an opportunity to meet the outstanding group of young leaders and their families.
Started with a single $500 scholarship in 1993, Culver's VIP Scholarship program was designed to honor and reward individuals working at Culver's. Lea Culver stated, "Continued education is so vital. We are often the first employer for young people and many of them find a career in our industry. Our owners, operators and management teams invest the time to teach, motivate and inspire our team members. We strive to set the example and instill a commitment of excellence to last a lifetime." Since 1993 more than $730,000 in VIP scholarships have been awarded to hundreds of Culver's team members. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500.
