Culver's Vip Foundation Raises Nearly $60,000 For Scholarships
Culver's Commitment To Caring Includes Team Members Futures
(Thursday, September 28, 2006) -
Culver Franchising System, Inc. strengthened its commitment to furthering the educational goals of its team members by securing nearly $60,000 during a one-day golf outing at the Lawsonia Golf Course in Green Lake, Wis. The money raised will help fund Culver's VIP (Very Important Partner) Foundation and the program's legacy of providing scholarships to team members pursuing secondary education. In August of 2006, Culver's Foundation awarded 165 team members more than $175,000 in scholarships. Each of the deserving scholars demonstrated a commitment to higher education while working at one of more than 330 Culver's restaurants located in 16 states. To date, the VIP Foundation has awarded more than $730,000 to hundreds of team members in support of their education goals. Scholarships ranged from $1,000 to $1,500. Culver's hopes to surpass the million-dollar scholarship donation mark in 2007. "Our goal is to award $270,000 in scholarships in 2007," says Culver's co-founder Lea Culver. "The $60,000 raised through the generosity of our supplier partners and franchisees is a wonderful first step in making our team members dreams a reality. The rising cost of education should not be the deciding factor on whether someone can pursue post-high school education, this money works towards reducing some of those financial burdens. Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who participated in the golf outing and donated to the VIP Foundation." Culver's also used the golf opportunity to announce its long-term goal of establishing an endowment fund designed to ensure the continued success of team members and the VIP Foundation. Culver's hopes to secure an additional $1,000,000 by the end of 2008 while continuing to increase the number of scholarships awarded annually. -more- Culver's Raises Nearly $60,000 For Scholarships/pg. 2 Culver's restaurants are independently owned and operated in more than 330 locations.
