Supplies of bottled water boosted for Vancouver-area stores;
Foundation for Families donates water to assist low-income families
VANCOUVER (Friday, November 17, 2006) -
Canadian Tire and its Associate Dealer network in the Greater Vancouver area have moved quickly to ensure that Vancouver residents have access to supplies of bottled water to help them through the crisis currently affecting the region. Additional supplies of bottled water are being dispatched to Canadian Tire stores in the Vancouver area and the Company will continue to monitor inventory levels at the approximately 50 regional stores to assist with ongoing supply requirements. To assist low-income families who struggle to meet life's basic needs, the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families will be donating over 100,000 litres of bottled water to local charitable organizations on an as needed basis over the weekend. Residents who rely on the services of the Salvation Army can pick up bottled water beginning Sunday, November 19th at the Harbour Light location, 119 East Cordova Street. Supported by an extensive network of more than 50,000 employees, 1,100 retail stores and gas bars and a Financial Services division, the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families is committed to helping financially disadvantaged families by ensuring life's basic needs are met - food, shelter, clothing and essential goods - and by promoting healthy children through access to sport and recreation. To date, the Canadian Foundation for Families has donated more than $26 million to strengthen communities across Canada.
