Boston Pizza Opens At Pen Centre As Part Of New Expansion And Creates 100 New Jobs

Perfect place for families, friends and sports teams to enjoy great food

ST. CATHARINES, ON (Monday, April 25, 2005) - Boston Pizza International Inc. announces the grand opening of its newest restaurant and sports bar adjacent to the PEN Centre in St. Catharines, on Tuesday, April 26, 2005.

Part of the PEN Centre's ‘Expansion 2005' project and conveniently located at the southeast corner of the lot, this new restaurant is the second Boston Pizza location in St. Catharines. The new restaurant is operated by franchisees Ron Doi and Karen Roe, who have more than 17 years of restaurant experience including two and a half years experience at Boston Pizza on Ontario Street.

"We firmly believe in giving back to the community and are proud to have hired 100 local people to work in the restaurant," said Doi. "Having worked as a manager at the Ontario St. location, it's very rewarding to open our own Boston Pizza restaurant in St. Catharines."

The new restaurant will offer residents of St. Catharines a full-service, pizza themed, casual dining restaurant and sports bar experience. With more than 100 menu items, guests can choose from a unique selection of gourmet pizzas, mouth-watering pastas, and a wide variety of appetizers, ribs, meal-size salads, sandwiches and desserts.

"We received such a great response from the opening of our first restaurant in St. Catharines, we wanted to offer another location to meet the needs of the community," said Mark Pacinda, President of Boston Pizza International Inc. "It's great to have franchisees like Ron and Karen who have lived in the community for years, know the Boston Pizza concept, and have strong relationships with local schools, charities and sports teams."

The 6,000 sq. foot dining room, sports bar and outdoor patio will feature Boston Pizza's new design concept featuring upscale décor, lighting and seating. With more than 240 seats, Boston Pizza is the perfect place for families, sports teams, groups of friends and couples to meet and mingle over great food.

The franchisees and staff of Boston Pizza PEN Centre will sponsor local sports teams, the Lung Association, Kids Help Phone, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada through the Boston Pizza Foundation, which has raised more than $3.5 million for various Canadian charities since 1990.
