Local Entrepreneurs Bring Boston Pizza To Orleans

Restaurant ownership offers new challenge for seasoned business executives

(Friday, September 30, 2005) - Boston Pizza International Inc. announces the grand opening of its newest restaurant and sports bar in Orléans, Ontario, on Tuesday, October 4th, 2005, creating more than 100 jobs and launching a new career for two long-time Orléans residents.

"After working in the technology sector for 23 years, it was time for a change," says Bob Tuttle, a successful business executive who, along with this wife Barb, decided to make a career change to become Boston Pizza franchisees. "We were looking for a new challenge – something that was more for ourselves, more entrepreneurial. Boston Pizza's franchise model made it easy for us, they helped us every step of the way."

Bob left a senior executive position with Microsoft Canada to open Boston Pizza Orléans. Barb, who worked for Ernst & Young for 20 years, joined his pursuit to become entrepreneurs.

"It all started last October at the Ottawa Franchise Show when we stopped at the Boston Pizza booth and were impressed by what they had to offer," says Tuttle. "The day after the show, we submitted an application and less than a year later, we're opening our own Boston Pizza."

The Tuttles are local Orléans residents who have lived in the community for the past 15 years. Their two sons, Chris and Jonathan, will become part of the Boston Pizza team as employees of the new restaurant.

"We've hired more than 100 people to work in the restaurant," says Tuttle. "We're lucky to have a great team working with us who are committed to providing excellent customer service."

Boston Pizza is a full-service casual dining restaurant and sports bar featuring more than 100 menu items including 23 different varieties of gourmet pizzas, plus pasta, appetizers, ribs, meal-size salads, sandwiches and desserts.

In keeping with their commitment to the local community, the staff of Boston Pizza Orléans will donate all proceeds from tips generated through six practice serving nights to the Orléans Food Bank. A cheque presentation will be made at the grand opening party on Saturday, October 1st.

Boston Pizza Orléans, located at 3884 Innes Rd., is a member of the Orléans Chamber of Commerce and will sponsor local sports teams, schools and charities throughout the year. They will also support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Kids Help Phone, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through the Boston Pizza Foundation, which has raised more than $3.75 million for various Canadian charities since 1990.
